Federal 100: Lisa Akers

Lisa Akers
President, Acquisition Solutions Division
ASI Government

When White House officials asked industry how the government could improve IT acquisition and program management, Lisa Akers recognized a golden opportunity.

She was one of two people put in charge of the American Council for Technology/Industry Advisory Council's response. Akers and her government counterpart solicited input from the organization's members and distilled their findings into key recommendations. White House officials used the document to help develop a 25-point plan for transforming the government's approach to IT.

Akers eagerly volunteered to lead the organization's response despite the demands of her day job because she recognized the importance of giving members a voice in the government's reform efforts. Akers helped bridge the gap between government and industry at a time when both sectors are grappling with major acquisition and management problems.
