Federal procurement turns green
A new acquisition regulation imposes standards for environmental friendliness and sustainability on federal procurements.
The government is going to have to get a lot greener in its acquisitions under a new federal regulation, the Federal Times reports.
The new interim rule requires the government to make 95 percent of its new contracts meet standards for energy efficiency, water efficiency and other parameters. Agencies also must implement high-performance and sustainable building practices under the rule.
