Top NIST workers to receive modest bonuses

Changes to personnel management system removes minimum bonus requirement.

The top cadre of employees at the National Institute of Standards and Technology could see modest bonuses in 2013, thanks to forthcoming amendments to the agency’s personnel management system.

NIST is required to award bonuses to high-performing employees at the top of their pay band. The amount of the sum needs to at least equal the increase those individuals would have received had their pay not been capped. However, a recent Federal Register notice gets rid of the mandatory minimum bonus requirement for the agency, Government Executive reports.
