Agencies place high on list of appealing tech employers

Seventeen federal agencies made a list of the top 100 technology employers.

Despite the complicated process of applying for federal employment, many agencies are ranked among the best places to work in a recent survey.

In a look at the most attractive employers in America, 17 federal agencies made the top 100 list for IT. According to a survey of nearly 60,000 undergraduates and 6,000 MBA students by employer-branding firm Universum, the following agencies have real appeal for tech-focused job seekers:

  • National Security Agency (#12)
  • NASA (#13)
  • CIA (#15)
  • Defense Department (#20)
  • State Department (#22)
  • Energy Department (#30)
  • Air Force (#31)
  • Navy (#34)
  • Environmental Protection Agency (#49)
  • Treasury Department (#54)
  • Army (#60)
  • Peace Corps (#69)
  • Nuclear Regulatory Commission (#91)
  • National Institutes of Health (#95)
  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (#97)
  • Department of Veterans Affairs (#100)

Agencies also fared well in other categories: NASA was No. 1 among engineering employers, while NIH topped the natural science list.
