Indiana, IBM ink $1B pact

IBM will modernize the state's social services eligibility system.

Indiana’s governor has signed a pact with IBM to modernize the state’s social services eligibility system.

The agreement, inked late last month, sets into motion a $1 billion contract that could span a decade. An IBM-led team is expected to begin implementation immediately, according to the state.

Gov. Mitch Daniels on Nov. 29 accepted a state panel’s recommendation to award the eligibility contract to IBM. The state received federal approval on Dec. 18.
