SSA introduces revamped site

The Social Security Administration launched a redesigned website today after a recent report of mixed scores on customer satisfaction.

SSA has two of the highest-rated online services in all of government, including the SSA Retirement Estimator, but its home page ranked below average in the most recent American Customer Satisfaction Index survey, according to from ForeSee Results dated Oct. 26.

The Social Security Administration today introduced its redesigned home page with new features and a focus on customer service, SSA Commissioner Michael Astrue said.

The new features include links to the website’s most popular pages, a rotating showcase box for major announcements, and redesigned subpages for major programs such as Retirement, Disability, Survivors and Medicare.

“We set out to make Social Security’s new home page even easier for visitors to find the services and information they need,” Astrue said in a news release.

The SSA Retirement Estimator scored 90 out of 100 in customer satisfaction, and the SSA iClaim online service scored 89, which are the highest scores for all federal government online services in the third quarter of 2010, ForeSee said.

However, in the same study, SSA’s home page scored 71 in customer satisfaction, lower than the average customer satisfaction score of 75 for federal agency home pages, ForeSee said.
